A healthier life, right where you live

Bordered by two of the island’s three hospitals and dotted with private clinics along its surrounding roads, South Sound is built for access. For families, retirees, young professionals and everyone in between, living here means you’re never far from the care you need. This makes quick check-ups possible during a lunch break or between school drop-offs. There’s no need to fight traffic or travel far to fill a prescription. And the perks don’t stop at convenience. The health care providers in the area are among the best in the world, and you can usually see a specialist within a matter of days or a couple of weeks at most.

Hospitals at the helm

There are not just one, but two major hospitals adjacent to South Sound that anchor the area’s medical services. Both are located along the main roads that connect South Sound to George Town.

Doctors Hospital is a private facility known for its cutting-edge technology, personal care and short wait times. It is always innovating. A recent example includes its partnership with a biotechnology company to develop advanced biomarker blood tests for the early detection of cancers. The hospital also recently acquired the latest technology equipment to offer game-changing procedures that remove blood clots to rapidly restore circulation in emergencies.

Doctors Hospital offers everything from urgent care to general practice. With the latest in radiology and imaging (CT, MRI, 3D mammography), and surgical equipment, the facility manages a wide range of specialty services. These include cardiology, neurology, oncology, women’s and men’s health, pediatrics, endocrinology, ENT and aesthetics, rheumatology, orthopedics and urology.

The Anthony S. Eden Hospital (formerly George Town Hospital) is the Cayman Islands’ largest medical center and part of the government-administered Health Services Authority (HSA). It provides a full range of medical services, including emergency care, general practice, diagnostics, cancer treatment, maternity/NICU and pediatrics, mental health, rehabilitation and specialist clinics such as cardiology, ENT and orthopedics. The 127-bed facility served as the island’s only hospital for decades and remains a preferred choice for national health care, accredited by the globally recognised Joint Commission International (JCI).

Small practices, big impact

Just steps away from South Sound, you’ll find a corridor of boutique clinics and small practices. Most are nestled along the western outskirts of where the neighborhood borders George Town. These range from well-established general practitioners to specialists in ENT (ear, nose and throat), physiotherapy, pediatrics and women’s health. Here, it’s not unusual to see the same doctor for years, forming strong patient-provider relationships that are a hallmark of care in Grand Cayman.

Covering the east side of South Sound’s boundaries are providers within the Harbour Walk community. Here you’ll find services for eye care, physiotherapy, chiropractic, acupuncture, Pilates, yoga and general fitness—all focused on making a healthier you. Harbour Walk is also home to one of Grand Cayman’s most popular clinics—Integra Healthcare. Part of the Doctors Hospital group, it offers family medicine, pediatrics, women’s health services and children’s physiotherapy. Its integrated care model makes it ideal for families looking for health management across all ages and stages of life.

Quality health care for all

Living in South Sound means knowing that high-quality care for every member of your family is close to home. From emergencies to everyday wellness, this is a neighborhood that looks after its own. This includes pets too. Several mobile veterinary clinics in Grand Cayman offer home visits across the island. A few of these are stationed in or near South Sound, which makes for quicker service. There’s also an animal hospital in nearby George Town, as well as veterinary offices for those who prefer in-person services.
